2050: A tale of 2 futures


I created this project as a bit of an experiment, to work out what level of graphics I could make in unity's HDRP using a low level Laptop. I was rather surprised with the result!

At first the game ran at single digits in the fps department, but after a lot of occlusion culling, some post processing cutbacks, and de-sizing some textures, it ran fine on my intel inbuilt graphics card.

However, I did encounter some issues with Unity's HDRP in the forms of grass. For some reason the HDRP platform doesn't support grass, making it difficult to make realistic looking environments. In the end I gave up on this, and instead used small bushes as well as grass textures for the terrain.

Overall this experiment has been rather enjoying, and I have managed to produce a piece with both looks good and runs well.
